IT & Infrastructure Engineer

About us

At THEKER we're taking on one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: redefining how physical work is done in the world.

We're a robotics and AI company building intelligent, adaptable systems capable of solving problems that traditional automation never could. From Barcelona, our mission is to build an era-defining company leading the robotics revolution.

By joining us, you'll have the opportunity to do the most meaningful work of your life, setting a new standard for industrial automation and driving advances with global reach, surrounded by a focused, immensely talented team that shares this ambition and is here to win.

Your role

We're looking for an IT & Infrastructure Engineer to own the entire IT backbone that keeps THEKER running. Every network, every server, every device our engineers and operators touch. You'll be the first dedicated IT hire, which means you build the foundations from scratch: firewall, switches, VLANs, VPN, servers, monitoring, and the security posture that protects our proprietary technology.

This is a build-from-scratch role at a company that grows fast and breaks things even faster. You'll walk into offices and lab spaces that need real infrastructure, a team that expects the network to just work, and hardware that ships to customer sites. You own the full cycle: you buy the gear, set it up, monitor it, secure it, and fix it before anyone notices it was broken.

Day to day, you'll manage users in Bitakora and Microsoft, run MDM across the Windows and Apple fleets, plan AP distribution and network infrastructure for new spaces, and stand up the internal services the team relies on. Some days you'll build and configure IsoKernels from scratch alongside the engineering team. You'll report to and work directly with the founders and technical leads. When anything IT-related touches THEKER, it goes through you.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience administering networks and IT infrastructure (firewall, managed switches, VLANs, VPN, DNS/DHCP).

  • Solid experience in Linux and Windows server administration, plus fleet management (MDM) on Windows and macOS.

  • Practical cybersecurity knowledge: VPN/VPS hardening, access control, endpoint security, backup and recovery.

  • Comfortable racking, cabling, and provisioning hardware with your own hands.

  • Scripting ability (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate provisioning, monitoring, and repetitive tasks.

  • Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate. This is a 100% on-site role.

Nice to have

  • Experience self-hosting services (GitHub Enterprise / Gitea, GitLab, CI runners, artifact registries).

  • Familiarity with industrial or IoT environments (ESP-based telemetry, machine power-consumption monitoring, CCTV systems).

  • Exposure to embedded or edge computing hardware provisioning.

  • Networking or security certifications (CCNA, Security+, or equivalent).

  • Experience with software such as: pfSense, OPNsense, Fortigate, or Unifi Gateway.

You'll fit in at THEKER if

  • You're motivated by a fast-paced, ambitious environment. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we're going all in to capture it.

  • You want responsibility from day one, delivering to world-class standards for leading customers.

  • You enjoy experimenting, iterating fast, and embracing change as part of learning.

  • You enjoy building things from scratch and leaving them better than you found them.

What we offer

  • Being part of a fast-growing robotics and AI company with real ambition, where your career can accelerate alongside ours.

  • The opportunity to build THEKER's entire IT and infrastructure stack from scratch and own it as the company scales.

  • A focused, immensely talented team where your work is seen and your decisions count.

  • An environment where new ideas are encouraged and your input shapes both the product and the company.

  • 100% on-site work in Barcelona.

Closing note

We're committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome all applications regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
