Mechanical Industrialization Engineer

About us

At THEKER, we're taking on one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: redefining how physical work gets done in the world.

We are a robotics and AI company building intelligent, adaptable systems that solve problems traditional automation never could. From Barcelona, our mission is to create a generation-defining company leading the robotics revolution.

By joining us, you will have the chance to do the most meaningful work of your life, setting a new standard for industrial automation and driving breakthroughs with global reach, while being surrounded by a focused, talent-dense team that shares this ambition and is here to win.

Your role

We are looking for a Mechanical Industrialization Engineer to own the transition from prototype to manufacturable product. As THEKER moves from R&D into serial production, someone needs to sit at the intersection of mechanical design and manufacturing reality. That person will define how our robots are built at scale, not just how they work in the lab.

You will be working inside a lean mechanical team where decisions are made fast and ownership is real. The product is an industrial robot deployed in demanding physical environments: it has to work reliably, be maintainable in the field, and be buildable efficiently. You will work closely with the design engineers who shape the product and with the suppliers and production partners who make it. That means constant back-and-forth between what is ideal and what is feasible.

Your day-to-day will cover defining manufacturing processes for new components, driving design-for-manufacturing reviews, qualifying suppliers and materials, setting tolerances and assembly sequences, and tracking what happens when theory meets factory floor. You will flag issues early, push to resolve them fast, and leave documentation that makes production repeatable without your presence.

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in a product industrialization role, covering the full cycle from design freeze to production ramp-up.

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, casting, surface treatments, and how material choice drives each of them.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical product development: tolerancing (GD&T), DFM/DFA reviews, FMEA, BOM management, and production documentation.

  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems: actuators, electric motors, or pneumatic systems in a product context.

  • Experience working with transmission systems (gearboxes, belts, couplings, linear guides) at a component selection and integration level.

  • Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate. This is a 100% on-site role.

Nice to have

  • Experience qualifying new suppliers and managing the approval process for production components.

  • Background in robotics, automation, or capital equipment where reliability targets are strict.

  • Familiarity with ERP or PLM tools for BOM and change management.

  • Experience managing industrial certifications or CE marking for mechanical assemblies.

  • Outstanding academic record with projects (Formula Student/MotoStudent, student associations, research, personal innovations).

You'll thrive at THEKER if

  • You're excited by a fast-paced and ambitious environment. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we're going all in to capture it.

  • You want responsibility early on, delivering at world-class standards for leading clients.

  • You enjoy experimenting, iterating quickly, and embracing change as part of the learning process.

  • You are comfortable working at the intersection of design and manufacturing, pushing both sides toward better decisions rather than just executing what you're handed.

Main responsibilities

  • Own the industrialization process for new mechanical assemblies, from design review through supplier qualification and production release.

  • Lead DFM and DFA reviews with the mechanical design team, identifying manufacturing risks before they reach production.

  • Define and document assembly sequences, tolerances, and quality control criteria for each new component family.

  • Select and qualify suppliers for machined, sheet metal, and plastic parts; manage technical approval cycles and first article inspections.

  • Drive FMEA processes for critical mechanical systems, tracking corrective actions through to closure.

  • Maintain the production BOM and engineering change management process, ensuring documentation reflects the current build state.

  • Monitor production quality in collaboration with operations, identifying recurring defects and owning the root cause analysis and fix.

  • Support the mechanical team on material and process selection for new designs, with a focus on cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

What we offer

  • Being part of a fast-growing robotics and AI company with genuine ambition, where your career can accelerate alongside us.

  • The chance to build THEKER's manufacturing foundation from scratch, shaping how our robots are produced at scale.

  • A focused, talent-dense team where your work is visible and your decisions count.

  • An environment where new ideas are encouraged and your contributions shape both the product and the company.

  • 100% on-site work in Barcelona.

What the process looks like

  1. Intro call with Martín (Chief of Staff), 30 minutes.

  2. Technical exercise: a real DFM or industrialization case based on a component type we work with.

  3. Conversation with the mechanical engineering team.

  4. Meet the rest of the team and founders at our offices.

These steps can be completed in 7 days.

We're committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome all applications regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
