Structural Engineer

About Us

At THEKER, we're taking on one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century: redefining how physical work gets done in the world.

We are a robotics and AI company building intelligent, adaptable systems that solve problems traditional automation never could. From Barcelona, our mission is to create a generation-defining company leading the robotics revolution.

By joining us, you will have the chance to do the most meaningful work of your life, setting a new standard for industrial automation and driving breakthroughs with global reach, while being surrounded by a focused, talent-dense team that shares this ambition and is here to win.

We recently closed the largest robotics Series A in Europe's history, and we're looking for the top 0.01% of talent to take on that mission with us, and build the biggest company in the world.

Your role

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to design, calculate and validate the structures we install on the client's factory floor to stiffen our robots and robotic cells. This is the structure that lets the robot hold its precision and repeatability under dynamic loads. You own its rigidity, its deformation under load, its natural frequencies and vibration behavior, its anchoring to the existing slab and the assembly tolerances that make it work once it is bolted down.

The role sits at a specific crossing point. It is not product design of the robot itself, and it is not classic civil construction. It is precision support structure, halfway between structural calculation of steel and foundations and the dynamic analysis of stiffness and vibration. What you design does not stay on a screen. It gets fabricated, transported and installed in a real plant, so the work runs from the calculation model all the way to the structure standing on a client's floor.

You will work closely with our mechanical and deployment teams, fitting each structure to a specific robot and cell, and you will spend time on client sites verifying real conditions and closing the gap between the model and the installation. The role is open to different levels of experience: what matters is the strength of your structural analysis and your willingness to take a design all the way to the field.

What we're looking for

  • A degree in Civil, Structural, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, with a real specialization or strong grounding in structures.

  • Solid experience designing steel structures: sizing members and connections, anchoring to existing slabs, and defining the assembly tolerances a structure needs to survive real installation.

  • Proven structural calculation with finite element analysis: modeling, load cases, and verification of stiffness and deformation.

  • Comfortable working on-site at client plants, taking real measurements and adjusting the installation in the field, with functional Spanish for day-to-day work with the team.

  • Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate. This is a 100% on-site role.

Nice to have

  • Structural dynamics applied to precision: modal analysis, natural frequencies, and vibration response under dynamic loads. This is a strong plus, not a requirement.

  • Hands-on with Tekla Structures, SOFiSTiK, SAP2000, CYPE, Abaqus or similar tools for structural design and calculation.

  • Experience with high-precision structures, machine foundations or vibration isolation.

  • Ability to script and automate calculation or FEA workflows with Python, Matlab or VBA.

  • Exposure to robotics, industrial automation or manufacturing environments.

You'll thrive at THEKER if

  • You're excited by a fast-paced and ambitious environment. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous, and we're going all in to capture it.

  • You want responsibility early on, delivering at world-class standards for leading clients.

  • You enjoy experimenting, iterating quickly, and embracing change as part of the learning process.

  • You enjoy owning a problem from the calculation model to the structure bolted down on a client's floor.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design the support and stiffening structures that anchor THEKER's robots and robotic cells on the client's factory floor.

  • Calculate and validate stiffness and deformation under load so the robot keeps its precision and repeatability.

  • Run modal and vibration analysis to keep the structure's natural frequencies clear of the robot's operating range.

  • Design the anchoring to existing slabs and define the assembly tolerances that hold up during installation.

  • Produce the fabrication and installation documentation that the workshop and field team build from.

  • Go to client sites to verify real floor conditions, supervise the installation and close the gap between model and reality.

  • Coordinate with the mechanical and deployment teams to fit each structure to its robot and cell.

  • Iterate designs from field feedback so every next installation is faster and more reliable.

What We Offer

  • Being part of a fast-growing robotics and AI company with genuine ambition, where your career can accelerate alongside us.

  • The chance to own the structural backbone that keeps THEKER's robots precise on real factory floors.

  • A focused, talent-dense team where your work is visible and your decisions count.

  • An environment where new ideas are encouraged and your contributions shape both the product and the company.

  • 100% on-site work in Barcelona.

What the process looks like

  1. Intro call with our Talent Team, 30 minutes.

  2. A technical exercise on structural calculation and dynamic analysis based on a real THEKER installation.

  3. Conversation with the mechanical and deployment engineering team.

  4. Meet the rest of the team and founders at our offices.

These steps can be completed in 7 days.

Final Observation

We're committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome all applications regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
